Whether you're new to the Geneva Family YMCA or you've been a member all your life, there are occasional questions that come up. We share a few here, with their answers, to help you feel safe, welcome and informed!
Q: What's all the noise and construction equipment at 399 William Street?
A: The YMCA is undergoing a radical renovation and expansion program, including new and renovated space for afterschool programs, programs for seniors, and community gathering space. Learn more about the project here.
...
Q: What are the Hours of Operation at the Y?
A: Customary Business Hours as well as Holiday Hours and Pool and Gym Schedules are available here.
...
Q: What does it cost to join the Geneva Family YMCA?
A: Dues and fees for membership are outlined here. If you are a Senior, you may be able to save money if your Medicare Part B Insurance includes a program like Silver Sneakers.
...
Q: Can I use the facility for a day, a week or a month, without becoming a member?
A: Yes! We understand that individuals' circumstances change, and if you're in the area on business or just trying to stay in shape during a period of inclement weather, passes are available for short-term privileges. These passes are governed by the same Code of Conduct as traditional membership. Just ask at the check-in desk!
...
Q: Are the conduct expectations at the Y?
A: Yes. As character development is central to our mission, we ask that all who engage the Y and its services conduct themselves in a way that is respectful of themselves and others. By paying for a membership or access pass of any type, the primary party agrees (for themselves and for any covered family members) to abide by the Code of Conduct and other rules and guidelines governing their behavior and that of their family members and eligible guests.
...
Q: Does the YMCA offer gender-neutral restroom and changing facilities.
A: Yes. As an Inclusive Facility and Culture, members are free to use the gender-neutral, handicapped accessible restroom in the lobby, and the locker/changing room that matches their gender identity, regardless of whether they are transitioning or appear gender nonconforming. (Temporarily unavailable due to renovation efforts) Private areas for showering and changing are available in the men's and women's locker rooms and a gender-neutral (and family-friendly) changing area is available on the pool's deck area.
...
Q: Who can bring a non-member guest to the YMCA?
A: Adult, Senior and Family Memberships allow member adults to bring another adult for a try-out visit. Youth Memberships do not include guest privileges, nor do Silver Sneaker-style programs, visitors from Reciprocal YMCAs, or short-term/day-pass holders. Individuals interested in site tours and membership should contact the Director of Membership & Programs.
...
